A trip to remember

Semestral break is near and Isay is looking forward on her Orlando tours again. There’s something in Florida that she can’t forget and it keeps her coming back. She always talked about her first step in the Universal Orlando Resort where she slipped while running out of excitement to have a picture taking in front of the Universal Studios Globe. Every time we watched the video, it makes us laugh at the top of our lungs because Isay didn’t even bother how she looked after she slipped and yet she still managed to make a super pose. What more, Aunt Neneng had took some pictures of Isay when she slipped, and that is really a wacky shot.

I learned that they have searched for online travel guides but they purchased their travel tickets in Trusted Tours & Attraction and because of the good service they received on their Orlando tours they recommended it to their friends who will be going with them this semestral break.

Isay told me that they’ll visit Walt Disney World Resort this time and Kennedy space center. She’s excited because their group availed Kennedy space center discount and what more but a chance to win a $150 Magellan’s Gift Certificate because they all signed up for Trusted Tours newsletter.

Prizes for Karl

100_0726.jpgKarl had a lot of fun watching Ben Ten Omnitrix Overload last weekend in Trinoma Activity Center. He joined the games and was able to win three prizes like Ben Ten stickers, ballpen and yoyo.

We bought him a Ben Ten bag so he can join the activity and watch the multimedia show of the famous cartoon character on Cartoon Network.

Aside from that another Ben Ten figure was added in his collections. Karl now has 12 Ben Ten figures in all and he still wants more. Kids today really adore Benjamin Tennyson.

My eyes and LASIK

September 2, 2008 on 12:55 pm | In f.y.i., technology | No Comments

I’m always in front of the computer because my work required me so and since the computer is my companion for six years now, I often felt pain in my eyes. My visual system is so stressed that I was advised to wear eyeglasses because of computer eye strain. But I did not follow my doctor. I did not wear eyeglasses that’s why I continue to suffer from eye strain. I just don’t feel wearing eyeglass because I’m afraid it could only worsen my situation and I don’t want to wear contact lens either even how colorful my eyes can be.

Though I don’t want to feel this pain in my eyes forever, I continue to research more about eye procedures that won’t cost much until I found out about LASIK technology. The article that I’ve read tackles more about LASIK information and from there I’ve learned that the United States military and even the NASA personnel used Lasik technology for the betterment of their personnel’s vision.

Instead of one, the modern iLasik procedure uses two lasers and it safely correct one’s vision that the patient could no longer wear eyeglasses or contact lens. Wow, isn’t that great? And not only that, almost 12 million American had also availed of this Lasik technology.

Another angioplasty

September 2, 2008 on 12:27 pm | In etc | No Comments

Ely Buendia of the Eraserheads undergo another angioplasty procedure last Monday after he was transferred  in Philippine Heart Center.

That was a day after he felt extremely exhausted after the first set (of 15 songs) in the Eraserheads Reunion Concert held last Saturday at The Fort, Taguig City. He was immediately rushed to Makati Medical Center when he felt chest pains.

Reports said that the Eheads frontman is now recovering from his third angioplasty procedure. Now I wonder if Eheads could still have another reunion concert after what had happened.

A different cooking

August 29, 2008 on 1:09 pm | In f.y.i. | 1 Comment

I love to cook Filipino cuisines and my favorites are Beef Stew, Tamarind Soup, Kare-Kare, Lumpiang Shanghai, Beef Caldereta, Beef and Chicken Pochero. Just last weekend I prepared Kare-Kare and they all love it.

Did you notice that most of my favorite dishes main ingredients are meat that’s because I seldom eat sea foods due to allergic reactions but I can prepare sea foods dish.

This time I wanted to prepare a sea food dish that’s something new to the tongue so I browsed the internet to search for an easy to prepare recipe until I saw a cook-off site. I remember watching a reality show where chefs have to cook a dish with the ingredients available in the show and it’s so interesting to watch.

But on the internet, I have seen www.GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com where I found Shrimp and Andouille Cassoulet by Chef Brian Landry of Louisiana. I found the ingredients easy to find here in the country like the main ingredient which is the shrimp that is abundant in Philippines market.

If I cannot find andouille sausage, I’ll just use the substitute in Chef Brian Landry’s recipe which is bacon or smoked sausage instead. Great isn’t it?

Aside from having shrimp as the main ingredient, I think I can alternate Mussles too, to make the recipe more affordable. Or try using chicken meat, beef or pork. Oh, I’m so excited to try this recipe. It’s a good alternative and I hope my family will all love it. It seems you’re interested in this recipe too and if you are just visit www.GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com and let’s start cooking!

School activity

August 29, 2008 on 12:09 pm | In ponks | No Comments

After a couple of days of rest, Karl’s school will celebrate Linggo ng Wika week, where the students have to wear Filipiniana and they were advised to bring Pinoy foods.

I decided that Karl should wear Barong Tagalog but my little boy don’t want it. I was surprised when he uttered, “Ma, ayoko ‘yan (Barong Tagalog) para akong ikakasal.” (Ma, I don’t want to wear Barong Tagalog, it seemed I’m having my wedding.) I laughed at him and asked why did he say that and he answered, that’s what men wears in wedding.

It’s good that I have prepare an extra costume for him, a Camiso chino with a red pajama-like pants with salakot and he approved it. He brought Goldilocks buttered puto with him in school.

Tomorrow will be the first Parent and Teachers meet and the issuance of report card and Im kinda nervous hehehe.

Safe bus ride

August 27, 2008 on 1:38 pm | In Uncategorized, relax | No Comments

Ate Jojit who worked as a nurse in United States, send me an e-mail story about Nanay Yeth and Tatay Gitoy’s vacation in her home. Jojit is staying in America for almost three years with her husband and three lovely children. She just delivered her third child that’s why Nanay Yeth and Tatay Gitoy went to the States to visit their grandchildren.

On their way to Jojit’s home, they were aboard a Bus Charter New York. Tatay Gitoy said the bus seat was so comfortable and the driver is courteous and careful too while driving. The drivers followed traffic laws and rules regarding time of arrival and departure in certain bus stations where passengers patiently wait.

Ate Jojit said Tatay Gitoy could not help but compare his experience riding on a bus in New York with his bus ride from Lucena to Manila and from Manila to the airport where they passed through Edsa highway.

When Kuya Lando learned what bus company Tatay Gitoy was referring for having good service he said that its the same bus his grandchildren have during their school camping and Kuya Lando’s company also hired buses of Bus Charter New York for their corporate out-of-town activity.
