I am Manilenya. Melai or Nalen for some, it depends if who’s calling me, and you can call me any of that name, it doesn’t matter to me. Melai is an online name; I picked up 9 years ago and already stuck to my skin. Nalen is short for Annalyn, my real name, but I kind of not like it.

There was a time that I want to question my parents why they named me with that, but what for?

I am from Tondo, THE HEART OF MANILA, where Smokey Mountain used to be located.

I am 35 years old, a single parent of an 11 year old girl who I named after Shania Twain. No, I am not a fan; I just like a name that has no vowel except A when you pronounced it, that’s why I dropped Jasmine as her second name.

I worked as a Domestic Helper in Singapore for two and half years and currently working as a Live -In Caregiver in Canada, the country of maple leaf.

Once a member of Legion of Mary Junior Presidium, Book Lover’s Club in my elementary grades, a choir in our Parish Church during high school, a theatre actor and a former student activist in my college days, sometimes I am asking myself “what extracurricular activities I missed to join aside from these?”

My whole evening is dedicated only to my blogging or any online activities, for a pitiful, deserted person like me, it should be that way.

I am dreaming of having my online business someday, maybe a fashion jewellery or novelty store.

THE BLOG

This blog is all about me. So personal that I remember one time that I can’t sleep, I blogged about how counting sheep didn’t help me to sleep. It’s always been me and my inner self talks here. I am thinking of how can I get money out of this blog, so I sometimes tweak from my usual blog posting but it always turn back to what I am more compassionate writing.

From a former Filipino Domestic Worker in Singapore who blogged about the difference of how social services was given to locals of Singapore and Philippines, I invaded the quietness of one small town in Canada. I am still to discover how a third world big kid overcomes the pensiveness while walking to place unknown to me
