I was there beside her. She drives and we were talking as her hand phone rang. Somebody on the line maybe asked her and then I heard her saying “I am sending my maid home.”
That seven words cut off my lethargy. I was in uncontrollable yawning before that. And the rest of the time I was sitting there inside her truck (we call it van); I was submerged into deep thought.
I am a Maid; all along I thought I am a Caregiver.
When I told that to my uncle, he knocked me dead with his reply. “Maid, caregiver, pareho lang yun e.” (“Maid, Caregiver, it’s the same eh.”)
Oh yeah! I forgot. My employer hired me to do her household chores and to nanny her three kids. That’s why I became a maid and a caregiver to her family.
I kept all the toys that cluttered around the living room, after a while my employer’s 5-year old daughter asked me why I need to keep all the toys because she still needs those. She called me Idiot.
I am used to call myself “Bobang Pinay” but I am not used to somebody calling me “Idiot” and that offended me.
Yes I can agree to be called a maid by her mom, but not “Idiot” by the 5-year old daughter. But since her mom gave me an iPod Nano last Christmas, I forgave the little biatch (her sister call her that)…Ooopppsss. The Bitch in me. My other ME.

the kid should be taught not to say unkind words like that. I don’t use the word “maid” anymore. I don’t know if it makes sense to use the word “helper” but that’s what I call my helpers at home. They help in a lot of tasks. I believe it is a mutual help because they learn from me as I teach them to cook and bake. I get help from cleaning up the mess.

their parent’s always stop them from doing that actually, but they don’t know what the kids do whenever they’re out..yung mga bata maybe 7 years old pababa, they are really “sutil” pero after 10 they become nicer. I always want the older kids to be with us because they save me from being bullied by this 5 year old kid..katawa no?

i disagree that a maid and a caregiver are the same..
the mother should teach the kid some manners..the 5 year old being a kid is not an excuse for being called an idiot..
but if i were in your place i think i’ll also do the same(ignore the comment).

In reality sis, believe me they are the same. Okey naman sis, kapag naririnig ng mga magulang o mga kapatid na sinisigawan ako nung bata, sinisigawan din nila lol, now I know why the kid loves to yell hehehe
i guess tama ka nga ate dahil mas exposed ka sa ganoong sitwasyon so you should know better..nonetheless, i’m still proud of ofws’ like you(notwithstanding the fact that my dad was an ofw before). In some ways I know how hard it is to be away from your family esp. your own kid, just so you can get an honest paying job(ayy tama ba yung inggles ko ng “marangal na trabaho”??..kung mali itama niyo na lang po) in another country.

hehehe ganyan talaga ang buhay pre, pero advise ng nanay ko kung di daw ako makakapagpigil, mabuti nang bumalik na lang ako ng pinas at maging BUM ulit :)..di na ko sanay ng hindi nagtatrabaho ngayon kaya hindi pwede..kaya kailangang magtyaga, sabagay dalawang taon lang naman to e tapos pwede na kong maghanap ng ibang work,
